The Ohio State University community is mourning the tragic loss of William Meyers, a 19-year-old student from Fairfield, Connecticut, who was found dead inside the Ohio Stadium on Friday (September 26). University spokesperson Ben Johnson confirmed Meyers' identity and expressed condolences, stating, "Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time." Counseling services are available for students needing support.
Meyers, a third-year accounting student, co-founded a charity with his brother that donated over 6,000 pieces of sports equipment to local centers. The university has not released details about the cause of death, but officials have stated that foul play is not suspected, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
This incident follows a previous tragedy at the stadium last year, when a woman died after falling from the upper tier. The Ohio State Buckeyes football team is currently playing away games but is scheduled to return to the stadium next weekend.
