Police: Teen Who Shot Grandparents Planned 'To Cause Harm' At High School

Alexander M. Kraus, 17,

Authorities say that a 17-year-year-old boy from Wisconsin shot and killed his grandparents and had plans to "cause harm" at his high school. Officers from the Grand Chute Police Department were called the home of 74-year-old Dennis Kraus and 73-year-old Letha Kraus and found their bodies when they arrived. Deputies took the couple's grandson, Alexander M. Kraus, into custody, and he admitted to killing them with a long gun.

He was taken to the Outagamie County Jail where he is being held on two counts of first-degree intentional homicide. Investigators initially believed it was an isolated incident but learned that Kraus had plans to attack Neenah High School, where he is currently a junior. Authorities explained that they found documentation of his plan but did not provide specific details.

The Neenah Joint School District issued a statement saying that they were aware of the situation and have been assured by law enforcement that there is no danger to the school.

"Additional counselors are available to students, and there is an extra police presence as an additional precaution," the district said. "We are appreciative of the work of our local law enforcement, and this is another reminder for all of us to remain vigilant in keeping each other safe."
