COVID in CA: L.A. County Reports Uptick In Infected Healthcare Workers

Public health officials say an alarming amount of Los Angeles County's recent coronavirus cases have been among healthcare workers. A Los Angeles County nurse thinks it could have devastating effects.

"When we're gone, there's just nobody that's going to take of you in the hospital," she said anonymously. "And that should scare everyone."

L.A. County now has two-thousand people hospitalized with coronavirus for the first time since late July. Nearly a quarter of the two-thousand-49 people hospitalized as of Sunday are in intensive care. The county also reached 75-percent hospital capacity during the weekend. Some hospitals have been sending patients with non-serious ailments home early and canceling elective surgeries to free up bed space.
